Paddington
village developed from the point at which the road turned to the east
continuing up past juniper hall.
the village
came about as a result of the decision to remove the military from the
city. the village provided accommodation and services for workers
building the new barracks which was being built astride the south head
road.
road widening
destroyed the majority of the old Paddington village along old south head
road (oxfordStreet)
parts of the
village of paddington still remain behind oxfordStreet and retain views
to the city. |
